Washington, DC Green Festival Celebrates What’s Working in our Communities

 

WASHINGTON, DC- In its 5th year, the Washington, DC Green Festival is coming back to town on November 8-9, 2008. Companies and speakers with expertise in all areas of the green economy will be showcasing their products and services at the Green Festival, hosted by two non-profit organizations, Co-op America and Global Exchange.

 

More than 150 exciting and inspirational speakers will address the Festival including acclaimed green architect William McDonough, Democracy Now! host Amy Goodman, journalist and social activist Barbara Ehrenreich, NY Times bestseller Marion Nestle, Hip Hop Caucus founder Rev. Lennox Yearwood, Co-op America executive director Alisa Gravitz, Earth Policy Institute's Lester Brown, environmental justice pioneer Majora Carter and many more.

 

The businesses exhibiting at the Green Festival include green technology, renewable energy, eco-fashion, green finance, green building, organic bodycare, and Fair Trade goods. The Festival will feature a Green Kid’s Zone with rain barrel making and Discovery Creek Children’s Museum’s Rolling Rainforest, where children of all ages can walk through a replica of a tropical rainforest. The Green Festival is also premiering its Green Teen Pavilion with hands on activities ranging from recycling old t-shirts into new bags to racing solar powered cars. Other attractions include Fair Trade Pavilion, Green Home Pavilion, Yoga Room, vegetarian Food Court, Organic Beer and Wine Garden, and a Green Film Festival.
