Hello:
I am new to this website/forum, came across it after doing a search for green manufactured homes in California. I came across ecomanufacturedhomes and was inspired by the mission/philosophy of your company Nichoel. My sincere admiration for your dedication and passion.
In reading some of the topics, it seems that all of you in some way are familiar with green building. I on the other hand, honestly don't understand 1/2 the stuff you all have commented on. I am a social worker by education/training, presently a full-time mom and teacher (I homeschool 3 of my kids). But I have tried to live a greener, simpler lifestyle for myself and family for the past few years.
My husband and I are currently looking at homes in Ventura County (Southern CA). Because of our large family (we have four kids) and my dedication to living a greener life and teaching/role modeling for our kids about simplicity and sustainability, we are very interested in purchasing a large lot. The only properties in our budget however are properties that have fixer uppers that look like they need to be torn down lest they fall on whoever walks in! We prefer a small home with lots of open space for our very outdoorsy/active kids. My husband and I have been thinking about buying a manufactured home to replace these dilapidated homes on the properties we have been looking at since the land itself will eat up most of our budget, so I was very excited to find that EcoHomes has a commitment to green building. Seems like a good alternative to the average Joe/Jane like myself.
Well since we have only been looking at homes/properties, I don't know yet what our future housing will be. But I am glad to know, I can come here and ask you all for answers or feedback on our plans/ideas towards green building and living since sadly my ideas seem too alternative and ecclectic for most of our family and friends, sometimes even my husband! Anyhow, just wanted to introduce myself. Also, most of you may already know this but the Sundance Channel (they also have a website) has great highlights/clips on green living and building.
Hasta Pronto,
Maria
