Biodiesel & Clean Diesel

Every time an American turns on a light switch 50% of that electricity comes from coal.  Coal is the United States of America's secret energy reserve. Canada as well as the United States have more coal between the two countries than any     other area in the world.Coal is valuable resource.

Investing on Clean Coal Companies is a big deal to the Investors.But the condition on the coal companies who are producing the carbon in to the atmosphere is good.

I have a 1982 VW Westfalia Van and I have been told that I can go straight to biodiesel fuel without any changes to my exsiting engine. Does anyone know if this is true? I would appreciate any information.

SafeWay announced this morning that it will be converting its entire fleet of over one thousand trucks to bio-diesel. This conversion will reduce their emissions by 75 m. pounds of CO2 annually.

An informative book if you have the leisure time to read or brief.

I've been researching BioDiesel as an alternative to purchasing a Prius or other Hybrid Vehicle - I came accross this site: http://www.grist.org and a section called: "Ask Umbra" I think may out there will find this very interesting and worth considering when thinking about the environement, our pocket book and the politcal landscape:

Burning Man, a 7 day festival in the northern nevada desert with attendance of up to 40000 people, will for the first time this year be nearly entirely powered by local (Reno) biodiesel. The event organizers have been trying to get the companies that rent generators to allow them to use biodiesel for years, but this is the first time every company they rent from (4 or 5 total, this is a massive event) agreed. Most modern diesel generators run on biodiesel without modifications, only requiring more frequent filter changes.
